š The Sunshine Stateās New Civil War: DeSantis vs. Everyone

Something is Rotten in the State of Ron
This week, Governor Ron āThe Freedomatorā DeSantis took to the podium at Pensacola State College to inform us that the Florida House of Representatives is, in his words, ārotten.ā Yes. Rotten. Like a forgotten Publix sub in the back seat of a Dodge Charger during July.
Apparently, members of his own party are colluding withābrace yourselfāDemocrats. And not just any Democrats. Flamboyant ones. We assume this means they own cardigans and read books.
Their crime? HB-1321. A bill that daresādaresāto suggest college presidents be hired using something called ātransparency,ā which is apparently offensive to the natural Floridian ecosystem of secret handshakes and boardroom fog.
Hope Florida: Now with 10 Million Surprise Dollars!
The governor also spent a generous portion of the press conference defending āHope Florida,ā a wholesome-sounding program run by First Lady Casey DeSantis that helps connect people to services without any of that annoying government oversight.
This program recently received a $10 million mystery boost from a health insurance company fined for overbilling Medicaid, because what better way to promote fiscal responsibility than funneling lawsuit money into political nonprofits like a beachside shell game?
DeSantis called scrutiny of the program a āmanufactured smear.ā Which is hilarious, because āmanufactured smearā is also the name of a Publix deli sample tray after the hurricane hits.
The New Florida Civil War
Hereās the situation: the Governor believes the Florida GOP is now an underground resistance movement. Heās basically fighting his own team. It's like watching someone yell at their reflection for not clapping loud enough.
One legislatorās bill tries to make things a little more honest and suddenly itās Red Dawn: Tallahassee Edition. DeSantis is out here throwing around words like ācabal,ā ābackstabbing,ā and āflamboyantly left-wingā like heās trying to summon a political demon on live TV.
In Conclusion: Florida Gonna Florida
At the end of the day, all we really know is that Ron DeSantis is mad. At everyone. Possibly you. Possibly your grandma. Especially if your grandma has ever tried to understand how textbook pricing works.
Meanwhile, Floridians just want their AC units fixed, their roads less sinkholey, and their politics slightly less like an episode of WWE Raw sponsored by Monster Energy and Tucker Carlson's hair dye.
